We’ve all heard it, experienced it and wished more of it: Laughter is the Best Medicine. Laughter is especially helpful to move us from intense introspection to connection with others. Laughter is about connection. Whether you are laughing with a friend, with the book’s author or the actors of a play, you are connecting. During difficult times, we lose connection with those around us as our minds turn inwardly to ourselves and our concerns. This is the most important time to turn outside of the self.

According to scientific studies, laughter has proven to: * Reduce Pain. Studies have shown that people suffering from physical pain report a decrease in the pain when they experience laughter. * Stress Reduction: the reduction of stress has been associated with an increase in the strength of the immune system and thereby better health. Although laughter will not solve our problems, it will allow us to be free of those problems if not just for the moment. * Blood circulation: Laughter increases the flow of blood. Healthy blood flow is vital for good physical health, emotional health and the ability to think clearly. * Physical workout: Laughter exercises the diaphragm, contracts the abdominal muscles and even provides a workout for the heart. A hearty laugh will work the entire body.

This therapeutic workshop will have you in stitches as we do various exercises to encourage laughter. What will feel initially like a superficial laugh will quickly turn into a total from-the-belly, heartfelt laughter.
